Classification of Surface Textures on Stainless Steel Wire Drawing Plates

Overview

Stainless steel wire drawing plates have various surface textures, commonly referred to as brushed finishes. These textures include straight lines, random patterns, corrugations, and threads. Each type provides a unique aesthetic and functional quality.

Types of Surface Textures

Brushed Straight Grain
- Achieved through mechanical friction to create straight lines.
- Helps eliminate surface scratches and enhances decorative appeal.
- Available in long and short thread textures, created using a scouring pad or stainless steel brush.
- Different thicknesses can be achieved by changing the brush diameter.
Brushed Random Patterns (Harmony Patterns)
- Features circular sand patterns that appear random and irregular up close.
- Created by the irregular movement of the grinding head, followed by electroplating and coloring.
- Produces a matte surface with high production standards.
Brushed Corrugation
- Made by using axial movement of grinding rollers on a brushing or graining machine.
- Results in a wavy pattern on the stainless steel surface.
Brushed Thread
- Uses a small motor with a round felt installed on the shaft, set at a 60° angle.
- The stainless steel plate is fixed on a carriage with a polyester film to regulate thread speed.
- Produces uniform thread patterns through the rotation and linear movement of the felt.
